Where There's Smoke
December 7, 2007

Another story written by the infamous Anonymous. Enjoy your weekend everyone.
The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island.
He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.
Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions.
Then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky.
The worst had happened; everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger.
"God, how could you do this to me!" he cried.
Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to rescue him.
"How did you know I was here?," asked the weary man of his rescuers.
"We saw your smoke signal," they replied.
It is easy to get discouraged when things are going bad. But we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of pain and suffering.
Remember, next time your little hut is burning to the ground, it just may be a smoke signal that summons the grace of God.

~ Alex
GS,
Thanks, you too. Weekends are never long enough. Sigh.
Annie,
Feeling spirit is always awesome. :D
Alex,
Spoken like a true spiritual blogger.
Peace my friend.
thankyou alexys. for me this is a welcome and timely reminder.
(hug)
Wow - I loved this story. It's a reminder (and I seem to need them a lot) that my job isn't to define how the help arrives, or what form the solution takes. My job is to ask and hold the faith. Wonderful!
That's truly beautiful. I have been through a lot lately but one thing it showed me was that for every person who destroys your soul, 5 step up to restore it. :)
There must be a lot of harmony in your house, Alexys.
Beautiful little story. I am a firm believer in "when a door closes a window opens." BTW, I found you from your links to my sites; The "Complaint" link and the "Winning Attitude" link.....2 different sites, my alter egos.
Michelle,
How are you? I hope Second Life has not swallowed you whole.
So great to hear from you. Sending lots of warm (((hugs))) too my dear.
Deb,
We can all use reminders now and again, but we should never lose faith.
Blessed wishes.
Uber,
The journey of Soul has many routes that can sometimes detour us from our destination. One thing you should know is that NO ONE can destroy your Soul. NO ONE.
There is harmony in my house and in my Soul because I never forget that I create it in my life and you can too by quieting the mind and attuning your Soul to the heavens. :D
Monday,
I also believe that when one door closes, another window of opportunity opens.
Thank you for dropping by and you are welcome to come by any time. :D
Hi Alexys,
Thanks for sharing a noble message through a wonderful story:
...'It is easy to get discouraged when things are going bad. But we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of pain and suffering...'
God bless.
Surjit,
Thank you for listening to the noble message. May you continue to bathe in the light of God.
Blessings.
Beautiful post my dear friend,
There's a saying my Nisargadatta Maharaj (theres a cool name ;) )
which says "In my world nothing ever goes wrong"
They're tough words to live by...
but somewhere in my heart i feel they are true.
This post is a reaffirmation of this beautiful truth.
May you be guided by the hands of invisible grace
into everwidening circles
of understanding, peace and love,
Love to you my friend, M
Maithri,
You are my litle teddy bear of light and love and I am (((squeezing))) you now. Thank you for being here.
Your words and wisdom ride the crest of the highest wave and forever reside in my Soul.
Sending you (((hugs))) of love.
There is a big difference between God's thought and my thought. This is good story. thank you
