The Pursuit
January 7, 2008

We are a week into the new year and some of us who have made new year's resolutions have already abandoned them, while others are carrying over the baggage from last year into this year.
Whether we have made resolutions or not, it is time to start anew.
There still may be old emotional sediment in our mind, heart, and consciousness from various situations that didn’t turn out in our favor.
Let’s burn those old feelings in effigy before they get etched into our Souls any deeper.
It’s time to do a few things we may have put off. I am not talking about resolutions, I am just referring to your ‘To Do’ list. That list that keeps getting longer, while our time is getting shorter.
There is a technique in the pursuit of happiness that makes it more palatable. If there is really something that we want to do, we can visualize it first.
We must see ourselves doing it. See ourselves experiencing it. Clock how we feel. Manifest the sensations. Imagine that we have already accomplished it.
The pursuit of the prize (anything that we want to accomplish), creates a space in our minds for receiving the prize. That is to say that it prepares us for the end result.
Do you know that before we accomplish anything, we have already accomplished it? It’s true. There’s a duality that exists between our mind and our Soul. Our mind paints the picture provided by our Soul. These two entities are coworkers in our consciousness.
We tread the boards of our internal stage and dress rehearse in front of our conscious audience. We practice for hours until we make the goal, the shot, the home run, the touchdown, the finish line, match point - -we know the sensation of winning before we win. We don’t forget the feeling.
We have already had the moment of glory in our heads. When we accomplish it again in our waking life, it’s just the technicality of our Soul guiding us back to that moment.
We have already won. Knowing that IS the prize.
I want you all to win and accomplish what you want to do. There is even a little bonus that goes along with winning.
Sometimes when I wake up and think about all of the work that I have to do and whether I will be able to get through it all, I take a step back and say to myself,
'The only thing you have to do today is love.'
This simple mantra gives me more time to do everything with love. In doing so, I am not pressed for time in any way. In fact, I have more time to love the moment. It is only through love that we will be able to accomplish anything.
From relationships, career, goals, to interacting with others; without love and without the purpose to give it away, our hearts would be left frozen over a lake of ice; in the cold, hard existence of life without any sun. Love guides the sun back into our hearts and breaks the ice.
There is no time to think about time. The time you take “thinking” about time is the time you could have spent "doing" something.
Adding love to your daily tasks will help them go a lot easier. Love should always be a natural pronouncement in your heart, spirit, action and pursuit of happiness.
When we close our eyes at night and they roll back into that time machine in the sky, we remember with tactile sensation, the roles we play in life are the reality of our consciousness.
We are only reflecting light that bounces off of the waves of God in a performance of a lifetime.
We are quick to criticize time for not warning us that it is going too fast and that we would miss it as soon as it passed, but time is a master artist that sketches our faces, shades and contours our lives in magnificent ways that illustrate amazing landscapes across the horizon of our Soul.
We can’t wait for time to do something. We have to do it now. Now IS the time.

So true, Alexys.
I am ready now... Today I put something to rest, finally, the way I neede it to be done. It feels completed and I am at peace...
Good post ! Hope you are enjoying your Monday and your accomplishments :)
Hi Alexys,
What you said is true, I am at peace after a spring cleaning of my house and my soul. Now it is time to move forward. Thanks for the post.
Hi Alexys,
Great post. I see the effects everyday in my business, I am a professional organizer. My niche is that I help clients from my heart and spirituality. I see that when people let go of the past, not only items, but thoughts, ideas, stories or mental tapes they find an abundance of peace and happiness. I love seeing their expressions when the project is complete. They also have freedom to create anything they want for themselves. They have created a blank canvas to start from. Awesome.
FYI: I recently read a wonderful book called, "Happy For No Reason", the author is Marci Shimoff. I love Marci's quote, "When you're Happy For No Reason, you bring happiness to your outer experiences rather than trying to extract happiness from them...you live from happiness, rather than for happiness".
I'm recommending this must read to all my friends.
Thanks again for the great post. I'll return often.
Mary :>)
Annie,
The fact that you are ready to lay it to rest shows your strength and resolution. May the peace you feel today be the peace you feel always.
Well done! :D
Life Reflection,
Isn't spring cleaning great on all levels? It gives us a good mental, physical and spiritual workout and pushes us forward into a new space to expand our wings.
Thanks for dropping by and making me a part of your day. Please come again.
Hi Mary,
Isn't it amazing when you see the effects with your own eyes? It's a magical transformation. What a job to help clients from your heart, that's so cool.
When people let go of old ideas and concepts, they open themselves up to the gifts of the universe.
Thanks for sharing the info on the book and I love the quote. Thanks too for dropping by and sharing your day with me. Please come again, anytime.

*nods* they used to tell us that in Taekwondo, when we had to break planks *i wasn't much good at it*
This post reminds me of one of the first ones of yours i read; where on your 'to do' list, you wrote 'to love' (or something of the sort). A good reminder :-)
Alexys,
True and wise words. The only time is now. We manifest what we desire because we have already achieved what we desire. You did a very good job explaining this.
Eve,
Come on, I think that you have a secret black belt in Taekwondo. It's funny that's what I think we do everyday spiritually, I mean breaking planks. LOL. I don't think it's the skill as much as it is the intention.
I think love should be on all of our daily lists, from grocery lists to setting out goals for ourselves.
Mark,
It's unfortunate that we don't realize the time we waste in regret or "thinking" as opposed to just "being."
Thank you for adding your valuable comments.
"We are only reflecting light that bounces off of the waves of God in a performance of a lifetime."... beautiful :) dropping in after a while and great to see you going strong :)
Ajeya,
So nice to see you back my friend. Where have you been? Wherever you have been, you have been in my thoughts.
Don't be a stranger. I hope that you reflect your light here again soon. :D
Yes, I fully agree with your views Alexys.Time is no one's friend...
A great message through this wonderful post. Thanks for sharing.
God bless.
This is sooo beautiful my friend and I really needed to hear it today...to be reminded...
That each moment is a new chance, to start again,
Breathing in your light,
With love to you, M
Surjit,
I like your analogy that, "Time is no one's friend. I look at it a little differently. I think time is the best teacher and a catalyst because it makes us appreciate it even if we don't want to do it. It also lets us see children grow and anything in nature for that matter. We don't like some of the physical ramifications of time, but that's only because our ego gets in the way. Though time may not be looked upon as friendly, it certainly has a steady hand.
Thanks so much for your valuable comments, I thoroughly appreciate them.
Blessings.
Maithri,
You light my fire everyday with your love my dear.
The gentle flow of your heart speaks to me in sonnets.
Shining a little light your way today and everyday.
Thank you for shining in my world.
It's sad but true, so many goals already given up on, as you say, a week in.
I like your last line. True.
Crushed,
Such is human nature. We want to change for a split second before we revert back to the comfort zone. It is sad.
See how futile New Year's resolutions are?
Beautifully written, Alexys. Lately, I've been pondering on the future of my dreams, and half believed that those dreams were already somehow fulfilled. I just haven't gotten results yet. Now, I love to see that you have just reiterated my thoughts on that matter.
Bon Amie
Bon Ami,
Thank you. We can't give up on our dreams or they will give up on us. They are the only things keeping us alive. Imagine that you have received the results you want.
Don't give up.
Oh, one can make all the resolutions one wants, sadly, these things aren't always in our hands.
Things can be forced upon us.
C'est la vie.
Crushed,
Life in itself can be forced upon us like a hurricane or it can wash over us like a gentle wave.
